Welcome readers. It’s your old pal Bryan Behar.

You might remember me from my over over 60 pieces on Huffington Post and Medium about Trump, mental illness, Trump, aging, Trump, television writing, depression, Trump, and me getting stuck in my own wet suit in a public restroom.

Yes. That Bryan Behar.

You may also know me from your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest feeds. That handsome fella in the picture above is me. Kinda me. Okay it was taken 10 years and 75 ((pounds ago. But we can stipulate that the same basic contours— misshapen hook nose, dead eyes, pleasant smile- are still the same? Thank you.

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve written any first person prose. Frankly, I’ve been way too busy not writing film and television.

But I’m back! Maybe. Perhaps. Oh who really can say? But I’d like to be.

And hence, Substack. (Am I pronouncing it correctly?)

This will be my new home base for essay writing on a very narrow range of topics including but not limited to progressive politics, saving democracy, suicide loss survival, career advice, writing tips, The Beatles, The Monkees, probably not Chubby Checker, mental health, 70s sitcoms, the history of country music, Jewin’ around, the Valley, hot dogs of the Valley, the Dodgers, the Rams, UCLA, US soccer and the continuing appeal of Arnold Ziffel from Green Acres.

Or as my wife would say, the usual.

I’m brand-new to this format, but I believe I’m supposed to ask you to please subscribe. You will then be informed, er warned about all my upcoming articles.

I really missing regularly writing and sharing and processing my feelings in a healthy manner. Which isn’t to say, downing an entire carrot cake for pre-breakfast doesn’t have its merits.

So please subscribe. Tell your friends to subscribe. I really don’t want to ask again. Largely, because I hate coming across like a schnorrer.
